The Dutch Food Security Policy 2012-2015

Food security is one of the four priority areas of the Dutch development cooperation policy for 2012-2015. In 2011, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation jointly elaborated a policy letter explaining how increased sustainable agricultural production, access to better nutrition, more efficient markets, and a better business climate, will contribute to improved food security.

The Policy and Operations Evaluation Department, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will evaluate this policy with detailed country impact evaluations in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda and Bangladesh. Baseline studies will be carried out in 2013/14, followed up by impact studies in 2015/16. The policy evaluation report will be submitted to parliament in 2016.
